I can't believe that tomorrow, March 27th, was my original due date and I was supposed to be pregnant all this time. I do believe I would have gone crazy if they made me wait.
Miss Marley Kate's birth story:
As you have read, I was stuck in the hospital because my water started leaking... Dr. Moffet told me that she would induce me on Wednesday, March 4th if I had not went into labor on my own before then. So, Momma stayed with me on Tuesday night and Jared went to stay at momma and daddy's house (instead of going all the way home) we tried to get into bed early b/c we knew we had a big day coming up! I took my sleeping pill at 10:00 and I went on to sleep. Being pregnant makes one go to the bathroom a lot more than normal but this night was ridiculous! Little did I know, but my water had broke the rest of the way, I just didn't want to admit it to myself. Plus, I had taken that sleeping pill and it made me a bit crazy. I tried to continue to sleep but at 12:00am on the dot I woke up and was in terrible pain. I had been having contractions but these were being timed at 1 minute apart! So, off to labor and delivery I go. Momma "made the call" to Jared and told him to come back to the hospital, I was in labor!!
They get me over there and hooked up to the monitors and Jared gets there about 1:00am.
At this point I am hurting pretty bad and they check and say I am dilated to 4. I got my epidural at 1:15am and I immediately got relief. I am able to go to sleep and rest for a while and they checked me again at 5:00am and I was dilated to 5. I go back to sleep and wake up around 6:45 and know that I wouldn't be able to go back to sleep. The Dr. on call comes and checks me (Dr. Moffet wasn't scheduled to come in until later in the morning) That Dr. checks and says I am "Complete", I ask what that means, and he says I'm 10 and thin and should have already been pushing. I have laid in the hospital all these days and you would think I would be good and ready to have this baby, NOPE, I still didn't want to experience labor!! I told that Dr. I wanted a second opinion, he must have thought I was joking because he ordered the nurses to get me pushing. Alyson was supposed to be in the room with me, along with Jared and momma, but they were not going to start my labor until 7 so she wasn't planning on being at the hospital until later that morning. I had to call her and let her know I was about to start pushing and I didn't think she was going to make it! That made me sad, but I had other things to take care of!! :) Dr. Moffet got there just in time to put her gown on and start delivering her! Long story short, After 20 days in the hospital, I pushed for 1 hour and 27 minutes and here she came. A healthy 7.46 lb, 20" long Miss Marley Kate Lane born at 8:27 am. She was considered preemie because she was 4 weeks early, 7.4 lbs and 4 wks early - I am scared to know what she would have been if we waited until her due date to have her!!
We had a few struggles with her at first, she wasn't eating very well and then she became jaundice. Her jaundice went up to level 16 and they did not want us to take her home because of the high level. For more than 24 hours she stayed under the billy lights and with much prayer came out a level 8 the next day. Everyone was sooo amazed at the drastic drop in the level number - I'm wasn't, I know the power of prayer!! So after 4 days she was finally released and we could take her home! We were soo thankful to be out of the hospital!!!
Thank you for everyone who prayed for us while we were there.
I truly believe, God will give you the grace you need to get through any obstacle that may come your way, I am living proof! Total number of days in the hospital: 24!!
